I had a scheduled c/s for 9/22, so the day before we took advantage of being just a family of 3. We went to the breakfast then the Northwest Trek with out little girl. In the evening we dropped Baylee of with Grandma and Grandpa, and Derek and I had a little date night to ourselves.
During dinner I started having timeable, but not painful contractions. Didn't think much of it, went to bed as we had to be at the hospital at 5am. I woke up about 1:30 unable to sleep from the contractions, but they were only ever 6-7 minutes apart. I waited until we were supposed to be at the hospital anyhow, but by 4:45, my contractions were every 2 minutes, and PAINFUL! They gave me meds to try and stop it, but it didn't work, so my doc came in early, and our boy was born at 6:22 via c-section.

For those of you that know my struggle with finding the perfect name for our kid, we searched for months and considered all sorts of names. We decided the night before at dinner his middle name would be Garrett, in honor of Derek's grandpa Gary whose birthday was also 9/22. We thought more than likely we'd name him Kai, but had a list of other names just in case.
Once he was born we decided he was just not a Kai. So we went through our list, and slowly crossed off all the first names we had chose. We then move on to our previous middle name options. Chael was the only name we both thought "fit" him. So Chael Garrett it was! For about 3 minutes. We had second thoughts, so that was not a good thing. Derek and I looked at each other, why not Garrett? It felt so right, so that was it. He is our little Garrett.
These past 3 weeks have been tiring, challenging, rewarding, and awesome. Baylee loves her little brother and is very protective of him. It's taking some getting used to with 2 kids, but I love our little family. And for those of you wondering...we're not sure if this is it for us. But for right now, I'm just going to enjoy the time we have as a family of 4!
